Erasmus+ este programul prin care UE sprijină educația, formarea, tineretul și sportul în Europa. Dispune de un buget de 14,7 miliarde EUR, bani cu ajutorul cărora peste 4 milioane de europeni vor putea câștiga experiență și avea acces la studii, formare și voluntariat în străinătate.

IRDT face parte din programul Erasmus+ de mai mult de 3 ani, timp în care a aplicat și implementat în jur de 3 proiecte pe an și a implicat în acestea mai mult de 300 de tineri.

Brief presentation

The Romanian Institute for Youth Development (RIYD) – Institutul Roman pentru Dezvoltarea Tinerilor (IRDT) is a relatively new organization, founded in 2014 and is presently involved in many projects and partnerships in fields that present interest for young people. Having a young and dynamic team, the organization aims at a continuous, personal, cultural and professional development of youth. Another thing about The Romanian Institute for Youth Development is that of an organization that supports other nonprofit youth organizations. Practically, we organize trainings and workshops with different themes at local level. At European level, we are involved in Erasmus+ based youth exchanges, coordinating and sending, working with young people from our local community.

 

 

Activities and experience

The Institute implemented direct activities such as trainings and workshops in areas like project management, organizational management at local level and areas like social inclusion, participation of youth, social and sustainable entrepreneurship, public speaking, communication, leadership, non-formal education at European level through Erasmus+ programme.

 

In 2016, IRDT coordinated 3 Erasmus+ youth mobilities:

- Open Your Mind youth exchange (developing entrepreneurial skills in the field of sustainable development among 42 young people from EU)

- Making Growth Sustainable: Social Entrepreneurship (promoting the social entrepreneurship as a sustainable way of businesses among 42 young people from EU)

- Making Growth Sustainable: Green Entrepreneurship (promoting the green entrepreneurship as a sustainable way of businesses among young people from EU)

 

In 2017 IRDT coordinated 2 Erasmus+ youth mobilities:

- Learning to Speak Your Mind youth exchange (developing knowledge and abilities of public speaking and effective communication skills, among young people from the EU)

- Learning to Speak Your Mind youth exchange (developing knowledge and abilities of argumentation and efficient communication skills, among young people from the EU)

 

In 2018 we will coordinate 2 Erasmus+ youth mobilities:

- Youth and Digital Entrepreneurship (develop entrepreneurial skills in the IT&C/digital field, among young people from the EU)

- Make Your Voice Heard (aims to promote volunteering as a manifestation of active citizenship, solidarity and civic involvement among young people in the EU)

Skills and expertise of staff

The Romanian Institute for Youth Development consists of a young and dynamic team which has the expertise of working directly with young people. Punctually, the individuals that will be involved in this project, within the organization are:

 

Robert Ciocotoiu is currently the president of IRDT, having over 10 years of experience in working with the young people, he is a youth worker, a trainer that was engaged in numerous national and international activities. His fields of expertise are project writing, project management and organizational management, sustainability, entrepreneurship and social inclusion.

 

Mirela Lupu is currently a youth worker and project coordinator at IRDT and the president of Youth Express Network (Y-E-N), an European network of 29 local organizations and initiatives that work for social inclusion of young people and access to social rights in 23 countries in Europe. She started out in the nongovernmental sector when she was 15 years old volunteering for the Local Youth Council in Timisoara where she was representing high school students in front of the local authorities. Between 2010 and 2015 she was the coordinator of the youth structure coaching 30 young people to create and implement projects for young people and enter into dialogue with public authorities. Mirela's fields of expertise are active participation, social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, access to social rights and structured dialogue. She was one of the leading young people behind the initiative of the local youth strategy in Timisoara, she was part of the structured dialogue process at European level between 2012 and 2014. Her competences include: project management and evaluation, designing educational programmes, understanding and facilitating individual and group learning processes, intercultural dialogue, working in a team.

 

Lorena Smarandache is currently a youth worker and project coordinator at IRDT. She started out in the nongovernmental sector when she was 16 years old volunteering for Arts and Theatre for Teenagers local association. Later on she became the coordinator of the organization, coordinating two national art festivals for youth. Afterwards, she was working at Timis County Youth Foundation as an Information Agent, coordinating youth local projects and the local team of volunteers. She has 4 years experience in youth work field, her expertise consists of volunteering and community involvement, artistic expression and inclusion through art, access to social rights, social inclusion and non-formal education.
