Context and needs
The 2016 projects showed us that young people quickly understand what a social business is, but get stuck on two questions: how do you measure impact, and what does the business live on after the grant ends. We built this exchange around them.
Objectives
Developing the participants’ social entrepreneurship skills: understanding the difference between a social enterprise, an NGO and a conventional business, identifying a social problem and the target group, building a social business model with revenue, costs and impact, and pitching the idea to potential funders.
Activities
Hands-on workshops, visits to local initiatives in Timiș County, teamwork and a final pitching session. Participants used simple tools, a social business model canvas and impact indicators, which they can reuse at any time.
Results and impact
Each team left with a documented social business idea and each participant with a Youthpass certificate. Several of them went on to entrepreneurship programmes in their own countries.
