Context and needs
Employers have been saying for years that young people lack transversal skills: communication, teamwork, problem solving, adaptability. Young people, in turn, have these skills from volunteering or projects, but do not know how to name and present them.
Objectives
The project aimed to develop the skills needed to increase employability: understanding the challenges of the labour market, identifying one’s own competences, career guidance through exploration, presenting experience in a CV and at an interview.
Activities
Ten days in Bodo, with training and practical sessions. A skills map, in which each participant extracted what they know how to do from everything they had done in the past year, interviews with professionals, the “a day in the life” exercise for three professions, poster workshops on careers and skills, interview simulations and personal twelve-month plans.
Results and impact
Participants left with their skills identified and documented through Youthpass, with a personal plan of next steps and, for many, with the discovery that their volunteering experiences were already the basis for a CV.
